Take control of your audio files! Are you fustrated by missing information in your audio files? Are you unable to play back your favorite tracks? Maybe you are a recording artist and need to improve the information in your distributed MP3s? Whether you need to regain control of your music collection or simply make some refinements, Jaikoz offers an effective music management solution. The missing information in your files is known as metadata and is stored in a Tag. The Jaikoz MP3 Tag Editor is a powerful yet simple to use tool that allows you to organize, edit and correct thousands of these tags with ease. Jaikoz has powerful automation features designed to do the hard work for you. Jaikoz uses MusicBrainz, an online database of over 5 million songs. MusicBrainz is a community based database with contributions by over 200,000 people and its system of moderation ensures the data is extremely accurate. Many of these songs also have associated Acoustic Ids provided by MusicIP, allowing a song to be identified by the actual music, so it can do a match even if you have no metadata! This feature means that Jaikoz gives you the flexibility to lookup your songs by both the acoustic id and the metadata making Jaikoz a very accurate tool. Jaikoz also provides easy access to look up your matching song on MusicBrainz using your default web browser. No identification system is 100% accurate, so we have made it as quick and easy as possible to edit your data manually as well. Jaikoz uses a convenient spreadsheet view to allow you to edit information very quickly and provides many autoformatting tasks. For example it compares your MP3s to each other and using this information it can correct missing information and spelling mistakes. Jaikoz can extract information from a filename into the tag without you having to specify the format for the filename, and can rename filenames and folders from your metadata in your chosen format. Some applications hide multi-complex fields away but Jaikoz allows you to access the first field of every one from the main view. For example if you have an album cover tag in one MP3 and you want to copy it to other MP3s just copy and paste it. Jaikoz provides access to many more fields than just the popular ones like artist and album, in fact you can modify ninety fields such Official Artist Web Page or ISRC code and Play Counter. Jaikoz also provides a split screen view letting you view the the original file(s) and the changes you have made at the same time. Jaikoz transparently supports tagging of MP3 files with ID3v1,ID3v2,ID3v2.2,ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4 tags, and allows easy conversion between them. Jaikoz is written in Java enabling you to use it on Mac OS X, Windows and UNIX. Summary of features

Java… nuff said. I have yet to come across an app that justifies all the Java hazzle on MacOS. Jaikoz is no excpetion in this department. I’ll pass. Too slow, to cumbersome. No thanks.

Hey, cool! This is a great tagging app. I’ve been using the demo to do some bulk renaming when I didn’t want to rely on iTunes to edit individual files, and its spreadsheet view and ability to queue up changes and submit them all at once are really nice features.
Count me in on this one!

I wonder how it compares to iEatBrainz..
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22813
iEatBrainz is free, but not still being developed, and slightly buggy…but it does work ok and managed just fine to help me out with thousands of songs.
Also does this app do Lyrics? iEatBrainz does lyrics and covers too.

Ok. Props for working in MacOS, Linux and Windows at the same time. I might buy it just because the developer did a good job making it crossplatform.

I just bought this. I have a HUGE MP3 collection, and most are poorly tagged at best. I tried using iEatBrainz, but its buggy to say the least.
Some comments I can make:
– The documentation, both online and in the internal help seems outdated. The quick start guide mentions a green button where there is none.
– I see no way to “undo” the suggested changes it makes on an auto-correct. You should be able to right-click a changed field and have an option to revert that field to its original value, bue you can’t seem to do that
– I can’t quite figure out what the colors of the table cells mean. The screenshots show reds and yellows…all I get is blue.
– When using MusicBrainz to autocorrect your tags, there is no way I can see to get alternate matches. Some of the matches were off, like when there is a particular song that exists on several albums it sometimes picks the wrong one. Again, this should be a right-click option somewhere
That said, it seems to be fairly functional at what it does. I would still like to see if improved some more, but at least its a good start to getting my MP3 affairs in order.

Hi, from the developer of Jaikoz.
Thanks all for your comments so far, mbabauer I will try and address your questions.
>>The quick start guide mentions a green button where there is none
Yes an oversight, this icon has been replaced by the automobile icon, the documentation is uptodate but not perfect.
>> I see no way to “undo†the suggested changes
In the current release there is not yet undo feature (although it is scheduled to be added). However by selecting the ‘View/Show View pane’ Menu, you can see your fields as they are stored in the file before any changes have been made, and copy values from from there to your Edited fields, and none of your changes are persisted to file until you actually select to save changes.
>> The screenshots show reds and yellows…all I get is blue.
Red is when you right click a field and elect to delete it. Yellow is highlights fields matched with the ‘Edit/Find and Replace ‘ menu option.
>> When using MusicBrainz to autocorrect your tags here is no way I can see to get alternate matches.
Auto correct tags from MusicBrainz is intended to be completely automated, so it doesnt prompt for alternative/close matches. However Manual Match from MusicBrainz lists possible matches and allows you to select the one you want, and it doesnt do this one record at a time they are shown in batches of ten records at a time (but you can change this in the MusicBrainz Settings)

I just saw this maczot and wanted to give the software a try. I downloaded the software. DRagged it to my applications folder and when I launch it, this is the message I get.
“You are trying to run Jaikoz with another trial license. You have already had a trial license. If you wish to continue to use Jaikoz you must purchase a full license from http://www.jthink.net/jaikoz If you have already have a license but have not yet installed it use ‘Path’ button to select the file (license.jai) and select ‘OK’. If you do not wish to proceed at this time select ‘Cancel’”
I have never tried this program before, must be a bug. It looks like there is only a few hours to go, so I guess I will miss this one.
Oh well.

Hi, from the developer of Jaikoz
Thumper sounds like something has got confused, did you install it twice, just try running the software directly from the mounted drive instead, this should work.

In which column do I insert or find ISRC codes?
January 4th, 2008 at 2:13 pm
I was testing jaikoz, and in error deleted the license.jai file (real delete, it is not in the trash can). I cannot get jaikoz to start or to create a new one. I have started to test it 3 days ago, so it is not that the trial is over.
What could I do?

It’s a Piece of Junk…
I purchase the program and never got the license till I ask for a refund.
The program misses at least 50% of the information….
