Who else wants to score another amazingly priced bundle of Mac software?

If you visit www.themacpak.com today, you’ll see they’re pedaling a bundle of 10 applications for $45.00. That’s nice for them, but not nice enough for MacZOT. We’ve got a better idea, and amazingly, the guys at TheMacPak have agreed!

“Here’s the plan,” we said. “We’re going to give a further $3.00 off your price, and we’re going to tell everyone the application you don’t reveal until May 18th a day early.” (We love getting insider information for our loyal MacZOT customers.)

“Okay,” they said. “So that basically means that you’re selling the bundle for $42.00. If the customers had knowledge of 5 out of the 10 great apps in the bundle on our site, we’d be charging them $50.00. So they’re not just saving huge amounts from the combined retail price of the apps, they’re getting an extra $8.00 off, too.

“That’s right,” we said, “and we don’t event think that’s enough. So we’re also going to tell them the category each of the remaining 5 apps, that haven’t revealed yet, so they know more about the 10 great apps they’re getting for $42.00, making it a steal at only $4.20 an app before committing to purchase.”

“Okay, but surely that’ll take up a lot of space on the page,” they said

“No,” we said, “because we’re just going to put it all in a list, like this:”

  1. Pangea Arcade or Ottomatic - Developer Site
  2. DevonAgent - Developer Site
  3. SmartBackup - Developer Site
  4. Snapshot - Developer Site
  5. Exclusively revealed to MacZOT users for the first time today - FileChute - Developer Site
  6. A $49.99 business/writing utility
  7. An $18.00 game
  8. A $21.50 iChat add-on
  9. A $15.00 tool for your photos
  10. A $49.99 organizational aid

“Wow!,” they said, “when you look at it like that, you realize that you’d be crazy not to buy.”

“Yes,” we agreed, “especially at just $4.20 per application, and there’s only a couple weeks ’til the serials are delivered!”

PLEASE NOTE: Serials for all apps will be delivered to your email inbox during the 1st week in June, when The MacPak offer has ended.

I purchased on the first week… and so far, this may end up being the best bundle I’ve bought in a long time!

I read somewhere the devs are being paid on a commission basis, and that’s a great thing!

It’s simple. The Mac Pak is another special deal where they bundle the apps as a single purchase, but don’t tell you what they are. Every day, they reveal what one of the applications is, but add $5.00 to the price.

MacZot! Is simply taking $3.00 off the price, and revealing one of the applications a day early.

When you buy now, the serial keys won’t be delivered until June, to keep the secret apps secret until everything is done.

It’s not QUITE as simple as Kevlar says, but points for trying.

The Mac Pak is a special offer, described as Kevlar describes it. Fun, but it gets expensive if you wait (up to $75!).

What MacZOT is doing is, for today only, offering you the bundle at a small discount off TODAY’S Mac Pak price, revealing half the bundle’s contents. You save a little money over ordering it directly from The Mac Pak today, and a great deal more if you’re the sort who waits.

Since the entire Mac Pak is of no use to me (I’ve sussed out what the other apps are, and no I’m not telling), I’m buying the ZOT! so as to provide software gifts for our MUG members.

Bottom line: $4.20 per app. Even if you only use half the apps in the bundle, it’s a good deal.

    Thanks for the explanation.

The only one so far I’m interested in is SmartBackup, which is $15 on its own, so the current deal isn’t much use to me!

Also, would have been nice if the MacPak site hadn’t just done their site in Photoshop then reduced the size, messing up all the fonts. Makes it pretty hard to read (not to mention ugly!)

Regarding our site design. We’re working with a design agency to create an amazing new design for future months, which we can’t wait to show you. As for the remainder of the bundle items we’ve not yet revealed, some of them are really amazing applications, that every mac user should have. The others are really amazing applications that most mac users will appreciate.

I’d like to thank all of you who’ve purchased so far, and welcome future comments!

I’ve been focusing on #6 and #10. I’ve had a hell of a time finding any apps that retail for $49.99 (only found four so far and one of them doesn’t fit the descriptions at all). There are a lot of $49.95’s out there, including Circus Ponies Notebook (fits the description of #6). Now if that were in the bundle I would definitely buy it.

#10 could have been either iBiz, iBank, or Color Schemer Studio (stretching on this one). They are all $49.99, but none of them have enough stars on MacUpdate.

I’m stumped. Anyone else have any ideas that they are willing to publicize?

  14. scottjl said,

as much as i like the mystery bundles with a good savings this is just too large a bundle, too large a price, and too many unknowns. out of the revealed programs i only have interest in two, and that’s a stretch at best.

maczot should go back to the 2-3 item mystery bundles for a cheaper price.. this could have easily been 3 days of $20 bundles that might generate more interest. (yes, i realize it’s not maczot’s direct offering but someone else’s advertised here.)

good luck to all those who buy in.

  16. Daniel Jomphe said,

    May 17, 2007 @ 10:52 am

#10 is not DevonThink, since it would be a MacHeist dupe and TheMacPak promised no dupes with MacHeist.

  17. Techslacker said,

    May 17, 2007 @ 11:49 am

#10 could be DevonThink if it’s a newer version than what was received via MacHeist. I believe they’ve already pulled that trick with DevonAgent which came from MAAD.

I cannot find any app that fits the description and sells for $49.99. I thought that Yep! might might be in the bundle, but it sells for $35. My best guess for the writing app would be Mariner Write at 49.95 as Scrivener is selling for less.

  20. F451 said,

    PT,
Snapshot is excellent. It is done by a developer who follows-up and makes other excellent apps as well.

    gryphonent,
The developer of Scrivener has stated he will not be participating in any programs like these.

  22. millca said,

My best guess for #6 is Mellel which retails for $49. Has anyone out there tried this program??? And for #10 my guess is Circus Ponie’s Notebook which retails for $49. Could #8 be ChatFX which retails for $20? OR it could be ShowMacster which retails for $21.80.

  23. mjval said,

    May 17, 2007 @ 5:22 pm

I doubt #10 will be Mellel (49$ v 49.99$)… but if it was what a great deal! It must be Mariner Write.

Anyway… DEVONagent and *eventually* Circus Ponies Notebook (#6) alone will make this a great deal.

I won’t be buying it since I already have DEVONagent and DEVONthink PRO (that I prefer to Circus Ponies Notebook, although this is a very good app as well). SmartBackup seems great as well, but I’m already using Chronosync (great!). As for a writing tool I have Mellel and Scrivener… any other will be too much (although I’d like to try Nisus Writer Pro, in beta now). The others don’t seem so appealing.

Anyway… my dream ZOT (or any other bundle) would be:

    1) PathFinder - 34.95$
    2) Graphic Converter - 30$
    3) Papers - 39$
    4) DVDpedia (I already have Bookpedia) - 18$
    5) Curio - 39$ basic (129$ pro, but 55$ if academic, which I am)
    6) MailSteward - 49.95$
    7) TextSoap - 29.95$

All this would make around 240$. If the ZOT was 75$… Oh, my!

  24. mjval said,

    May 17, 2007 @ 5:28 pm

At millca — Mellel is a great application. Fast and very stable. I’m doing my PhD using it (together with Scrivener). You should try it. The only problem for me is the poor capacity for making tables… However, since I mostly work with Excel, I import them as images to Mellel (drag & drop) and they work perfectly. In all, I’m dumping Word for good; and… I am so glad for it!!!

Another new writing application (this one for free, and a great substitute for TextEdit) is Bean.

  25. Justin D. Morgan said,

    May 17, 2007 @ 5:50 pm

I wish Nisus Writer Express was $49.99, but alas it is only $45.00. (I’ve tried Mellel, but Nisus Writer Express seemed to handle Greek better.)

  26. millca said,

    May 17, 2007 @ 7:36 pm

What I find interesting is that currently the products that have been revealed to us total $129.80. Then if you total up the rest that MacZot is claiming we will get, it only comes to $284.28 (and NOT $288.86; leaving a difference of $4.58). So that sort of tells me that the amounts MacZot has listed are off a bit to throw us all off a bit from all our guessing!

  27. Eniregnat said,

    May 17, 2007 @ 11:35 pm

Woke up, and decided that it was worth it. There are two programs that I want and they add up to almost 42 bucks, so if one of the other apps is worth it to me, then I have made out. I already have DevonAgent and I don’t use iChat, so those two are a bust.

DevonAgent is fantastic! It integrates perfectly with DevonThink (Pro Office) and for me is a great tool. For anybody that wants a good web spider, you should try this little tool out.

  28. kurzz said,

    May 18, 2007 @ 7:26 am

I took the plunge too. I’m looking forward to Devonagent. I’d be happy if #10 was Circus Ponies’s Notebook but how does devonThink compare to it? Notebook seems to offer some very nice features bu devonthink would integrate nicely with DevonAgent…decisions, decisions..

  29. Sanjay Mehta said,

    May 18, 2007 @ 8:22 am

Wasn’t DevonAgent in MAAD? I think I got it there. Ok, so it wasn’t version 2.

I also have DevonThink from some other bundle.

The Devon* applications *look* as if they’re very useful, but somehow I’ve not been able to get them into regular use. Anyone have any tips on how to get Devonised?

Circus Ponies Notebook seems to be yet another clipboard manager. Not to be super critical or anything, but I’ve noticed that the Mac appears to have an excess of clipboard/note gathering software.

It seems to be a step up on other organizational tools…. and if you think this has anything in common with a “clipboard manager,” do yourself a favor and watch that screencast for about two minutes.. at least.

    Happy 15th, Circus Ponies!

Same as aldpam, but the original TheMacPak site stated that registration information would be e-mailed during the first week of June (i.e., this week), so I’m not concerned yet.

Sanjay, it seems you should have received a few e-mails, so I’d contact the macZOT staff and see what’s up… Does your TheMacPak purchase show up when you view your macZOT account “My Orders” page? Mine does, and your should too unless there was a problem.

  38. aldpam said,

    June 4, 2007 @ 10:57 am

I just received an e-mail from MacZot stating that all serials have been sent out. I’ve still received nothing other than the first 2, so I wrote to the e-mail address provided. I hope they get it straightened out.

“Your email address/username was not recognised, please go back and re-enter it.”

I’ve tried entering my PayPal email (which is the one they really want) and my MacZot email account. Neither work. Has anyone had success yet registering PictureSync? Do you know any tricks? I’ve written the developer twice now and still haven’t heard back. Perhaps he’s been bombarded with similar emails.

The instructions to receive the Pangea Arcade or Ottomatic game was to send an email with whichever game you wanted in the subject line to pangea@namenetwork.info. Don’t put anything in the body of the email. Also be sure to use your MacZot email address.

As for SmartBackup, here are the instructions for that:

    SmartBackup

If you haven’t already, download SmartBackup from http://freeridecoding.net/smartbackup/index.html so you can register it. The registration email address for TheMacPak has a special prefix. Just add “macpak.” (without the quotes and be sure to include the period) to the front end of your MacZot email address.

    For example:
    macpak.stevejobs@apple.com

This’ll work perfectly for almost all customers, unless you have a special character in your email address, like a + sign. In this case, simply remove the plus sign, and try again.

  64. millca said,

    June 16, 2007 @ 7:39 am

Here’s the ShowMacster email address: support@showmacster.com

As for getting the Pangea Arcade/Ottomatic game, send a real email to the same address listing all possible emails they might have (as my PayPal email and MacZot email are completely different). Just explain you still haven’t received the game you chose as part of MacZot’s MacPak deal. After I wrote them an email, they responded right back and forwarded they email they supposedly had already sent me with my registration # (somehow that email just have got put into my Junk mail folder and I had deleted it — this actually happened with Mountain Tank as well).

    Hope this helps!
    Christi
(and no, I don’t work for any of the above developers, nor MacZot; I’m just a happy purchaser of the MacPak)
