FYI: This app was previously owned by Stunt Software (Overflow, On The Job). It was officialy acquired by LateNiteSoft (XSlimmer) on July 1, 2008

Did it go by he same name then? Have you used it? If so, what is your opinion of it and do you know why it changed hands?

I have some questions for LateNiteSoft covering two topics. First, as a current owner of Snapshot, how does your acquisition of this app affect me regarding your update policy? Do I qualify for free upgrades until the next major revision (as I have read in a PR release regarding purchasing a new license)? I could not find any info on your web site regarding this issue.
Second, I noticed your current release is version 2.0.2. Stunt software’s last release over a year ago was 2.0.1 and quite a bit smaller in size. Could you please elaborate what changes (other than company name, etc.) are in the latest version? Also, if you could briefly explain any new features, etc. that you have planned for upcoming releases.
Lastly, I just want to say that this has been a great app for me and I am glad you are taking over its continued development. It was sad to see it floundering for so long without an update.
Thank you in advance for any light you can shed on these issues.

This should be part of iPhoto. I can’t believe they can’t make printing photos this easy. I don’t like having to pay extra to get these features, but with the Zot price at least it’s a little less painful. I just tried the demo, and now I’m buying a license.

What functionality exactly does this offer me. I have iphoto, lightzone, and imagewell, along with several other image apps. Do those offer me similar functionality, or does this significantly improve photo printing?

Hi, this is Pedro from LateNiteSoft. We will send an email to Snapshot customers next week, but I’ll try to answer some of your questions.
@giltinan
We have just completed the acquisition, as @Chriswan said. Our main reasons for it are:
- We wanted to have more apps in our portfolio, but we couldn’t afford to spend many months starting a new app from scratch while maintaining Xslimmer, Sketches; commuting to our day jobs; playing with our kids AND sleeping. We decided to accelerate the process by purchasing Snapshot and quitting our day jobs. We cannot sleep yet, but we are getting there :)
- Snapshot is a very well done app (high quality was a requirement for any new product offering from us), and it still has a lot of room for evolution. We are now in the position to work on new features from day one.
- Snapshot product orientation and even some of its technology are a nice complement to Sketches, our iPhone app. We’d like to continue working in that area for both the iPhone and the Mac platforms.
- As far as Stunt Software, Dan has already explained in his blog that for some months he has not been able to develop the ideas he would have liked to. He wants Snapshot customers to be happy about having purchased a high-quality product that is also actively maintained.
@pico
- Serials issued by Stunt Software will be valid until the next major release, 3.0. Given that the current version is 2.0.2, this means several months of upgrades. No customer will be negatively impacted by the licensing policy.
- Download size may be a bit bigger due to the compression parameters we have chosen for the disk image, although the application size should be roughly the same. The difference in download size shouldn’t account for much, but we’ll try to optimize it. Thanks for pointing it out :)
- We will start with relatively minor upgrades as we get more knowledgeable about the code. We still haven’t committed ourselves to any new major features, though. Part of the reason for Snapshot being offered in MacZOT today is to gather the feedback from this community. You guys are experts in Mac software and your opinions we take in high esteem :)

Pedro, did you see my question?
Thanks for being active on this thread.

Just wanted to thank Pedro for his input and for taking care of former Snapshot license holders. Very classy!

I was happy to come across Snapshot. As it happened I had a couple of photos to print out today as part of a birthday present. In the past I’ve found this to be a bit of a hassle and was impressed by how simple Snapshot made the process. It’s very useful the way it allows the images to be cropped prior to printing and I appreciate being able to maximize the number of photos I’m able to print on a single sheet of photographic paper.
I’m now a registered user of Snapshot and am thankful for a simplified and more flexible printing process.

After 15 seconds of demoing, I bought it! I love easy to use software that just works! Looking forward to what else can be done with this app.

@Walker – Snapshot is mainly intended to improve the printing process. It allows you to select the photos to print, the paper you will be using, change the settings for your pictures and optimize your paper usage. As an addition, you may also add decorations, including frame borders or speech bubbles.
Many of these features can be found elsewhere, but I believe Snapshot excels at being a one-stop-shop for your printing needs, providing a very fast an intuitive workflow.

Tried this with some July 4th Parade pictures. Then I bought it. As someone said before, this easy print feature should be part of iPhoto. Sure makes printing pictures a snap and for the special price it’s a great bargain.
