Where does the name SubEthaEdit come from?

"It’s from Douglas Adams’ a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The reporters of the guide submit their entries using the SubEthaNet (interestingly enough the Ethernet wasn’t yet available in time of writing of the HHGG) - therefore we named our editor SubEthaEdit in honor of Douglas Adams’ great work."

SubEthaEdit’s document-sharing functionality must be seen to be believed. Groups of Mac users—in the same room or scattered across the world—can view and edit a single text-based document at the same time. I’ve also had great luck using it as a unified project management tool, where a team’s meeting participants share notes, capture TO DOs, and even provide back-channel information all in one or two simple text files.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of BlogTalk was the collaborative note taking, coordinated using Rendezvous and SubEthaEdit. It is a crying shame that these are Mac-only applications because that excluded quite a few people from the process. What was interesting was that taking part in the note taking changed my experience of the conference.

    Just a couple of things though… If it’s $35 and there are 5000 units given away, that’s not $105,000. That’s $175,000. Divided by the 700 blogs required to reduce this to zero, that’s $291.66 saved for every blog.
    I’d say that’d result in even nicer numbers to show off. I’ll put the required text because that’s what you wanted but it’ll be in parentheses after giving the real numbers.

    i’m confused. if BlogZOT DOESN’T reach the “zero point”, what do the bloggers get at the end of the day, if they haven’t purchased the software?

    for example…if by some chance at the end of the BlogZOT the price is at $0.50 (and not free) … and i hadn’t made the purchase through MacZOT but i DID blog it, do i get an opportunity to buy at the “closing price,” or am i out of luck?
