BlogZOT 2.0 $105,000 in FREE SubEthaEdit
Introducing SubEthaEdit!Collaborative Text Editing. Universally SubEthaEdit and MacZOT are giving way $105,000 worth of software. Learn more…
— ATTENTION: BlogZOT 2.0 IN PROGRESS (see MacZOT for details) — Where does the name SubEthaEdit come from? "It’s from Douglas Adams’ a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The reporters of the guide submit their entries using the SubEthaNet (interestingly enough the Ethernet wasn’t yet available in time of writing of the HHGG) - therefore we named our editor SubEthaEdit in honor of Douglas Adams’ great work." What others are saying about SubEthaEdit: My team frequently demonstrates SubEthaEdit as a fantastic collaborative writing tool with many curricular uses […]. Thank you for your excellent work on this very cool application! I thought you might like to know that a number of human interface designers here at NASA are using your product to collaboratively take notes of design discussions. We love your product! SubEthaEdit’s document-sharing functionality must be seen to be believed. Groups of Mac users—in the same room or scattered across the world—can view and edit a single text-based document at the same time. In practice, this has some powerful applications, such as pair programming and shared conference notes. I’ve also had great luck using it as a unified project management tool, where a team’s meeting participants share notes, capture TO DOs, and even provide back-channel information all in one or two simple text files. But, that was nothing until Richard Soderberg bugged me to try out [SubEthaEdit], the collaborative text editor. […] Watching this process at first is outright amazing — it’s was more fascinating than TV. I stared in amazement for the first few sessions, held back by the same hesitation that I felt when I first started using Wikis. Unlike a Wiki, the document you’re watching is literally alive in front of you. Excellent application for helping kids with their homework while doing your own work. One of the most enjoyable aspects of BlogTalk was the collaborative note taking, coordinated using Rendezvous and SubEthaEdit. It is a crying shame that these are Mac-only applications because that excluded quite a few people from the process. What was interesting was that taking part in the note taking changed my experience of the conference. SubEthaEdit Requirements: Mac OS X 10.3 or later. Normally priced at $35.00 BlogZOT Price: $0.00 (with your help) |

Considering that they gave away a -lot- more copies of Appzapper than they had originally estimated for the first BlogZOT, and given the price of SubEthaEdit, to begin with.. the number isn’t farfetched.

Just a couple of things though… If it’s $35 and there are 5000 units given away, that’s not $105,000. That’s $175,000. Divided by the 700 blogs required to reduce this to zero, that’s $291.66 saved for every blog.
I’d say that’d result in even nicer numbers to show off. I’ll put the required text because that’s what you wanted but it’ll be in parentheses after giving the real numbers.

If we posted a link using the form … if it reaches the free mark then all those users will get SEE free without doing anything else? Just making sure that now that I’ve done that I won’t have to sneak back here every hour to make sure I get a copy tonight if it does become free.

stainboy said,
April 25, 2006 @ 2:27 pm
i’m confused. if BlogZOT DOESN’T reach the “zero point”, what do the bloggers get at the end of the day, if they haven’t purchased the software?
for example…if by some chance at the end of the BlogZOT the price is at $0.50 (and not free) … and i hadn’t made the purchase through MacZOT but i DID blog it, do i get an opportunity to buy at the “closing price,” or am i out of luck?

Done it!
And in response to stainboy, I suppose if it wasn’t free and you didn’t buy it at least you made it 5 cents cheaper for those that did buy it!

SubEthaEdit is a great piece of software and this promotion is a great way to get it. View my comments here:

I’m guessing it’ll reach the goal without much difficulty. It might be a couple more hours but it’ll get there.

BlogZOT 2.0
It’s BLOGZOT 2.0 on MacZOT.com. This time, the software is SubEthaEdit from CodingMonkeys.
MacZOT and TheCodingMonkeys will award $105,000 in Mac software. Every blog post mentioning this promotion reduces the price of SubEthaEdit by a nickel….

Gordon,
Did you add each one, with title and e-mail at: http://maczot.com/index.php?mod=blogzot after checking that it isn’t already at http://maczot.com/index.php?mod=blogzot&list=1 ?

macZOT! offers SubEthaEdit
BLOGZOT 2.0 on MacZOT.com is cutting the rate on SubEthaEdit from CodingMonkeys:
BlogZOT! uses the power of blogs to create value for all Mac users. In today’s example: Each qualified blog entry reduces the price of SubEthaEdit from CodingMonke…

ZOT:
More than enough blog entries have been submitted for this BlogZOT to become active, yet the price seems to have frozen at $4.95. What should we expect?
the valrus said,

Okay, time to update the price. This isn’t that great a deal if you wait until an hour before the deal ends to actually offer the software for free.
You rock ass once you get it posted though!

Seems like maczot.com is under a bit of strain at the moment, SEE is popular
I’m wondering why the “BlogZOT price” is currently
UnLogikal said,

Ok… so when is this going to be updated? The BlogZOT Price List page is in the negatives.. but the frontpage still says 4.95 or whatever.

I am a bit confused… You mean to tell me that I did not have to blog… all I had to do is wait till all the other bloggers completed their quest, then I could be a lucky customer (of the first 3000) to get it for free?
Oh well
Come to think of it… I guess it is fair for those that don’t own a blog.
Thanks MacZot!

I posted my blog at 5:44 am yesterday and submitted it here, but I didn’t get a response.

Wait a sec…we had to send an email?
Once I saw the price had dropped below $0, I went to sleep.
I thought the blog submission itself was the “purchase” if there were 600+.
Please tell me I didn’t just shoot myself in the foot here.
