This was on MacUpdate a couple weeks back and, although it is delicious to my eyes, it doesn’t offer anything I can’t already do with Finder.

@Jim – I remember you posting this picture on MacUpdate and we all wondered how you’d done it. Maybe you could elaborate. It’s lovely.

On the other hand, your apps don’t appear to be organized in any way, and that is the main benefit of Berokyo. I have bought so many bundles and have so many apps on my computer that I simply cannot remember what’s here anymore. So, I decided a couple of months ago to group my apps into folders and put them on the dock so I could quickly and easily refresh my member as to what apps I have in each category, e.g., image editing, layout, WP. That worked, but only for some of the apps. Turns out that a lot of them got “confused” when they were moved out of the Applications folder and couldn’t be opened. That was time wasted. I ended up putting them all back.

Then I saw Berokyo and it was exactly what I needed. Yes, it takes time to drag your apps into it when you first get it set up, but once it done, it is so handy to be able to see what apps are in each category, apps I have completey overlooked for months. It’s excellent.

First of all we’d like to thank all users who have purchased or tried Berokyo!

Today we released Berokyo 1.35. This new version provides several new features (e.g., full support for tagging items, new item properties window,…), improvements and bug fixes. You can view the full version history at: http://www.berokyo.com/mac/en/history.html

By the way, all users who purchase Berokyo get a “Free Lifetime Upgrades and Updates” license.

Hi, Is the licence for a single Mac, single user or as I saw somewhere else a single user with two machines.

      Thanks

    5. Jim Says:

@Robin S. That particular skin is bundled with Boxer (a dolled up DOSBox.) I have come across some others, here: http://www.macthemes.net/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=404856

And, just to be clear, I am not trying to discourage anyone from buying this application. All I am saying is that I can’t justify the expense. I have not had trouble moving any of my applications to sub folders. Maybe you could use Berokyo.

I want to test this BUT I am have serious problems getting it to open. I have downloaded it from 3 different sites with the same outcome. The bz2 opens to the .dmg file but then I keep getting a damaged file that can’t be opened message. I even tried once to override that message and open it anyway and was told that it was being opened but it could cause system damage. I did get the icon and dragged it to my apps folder where I was told the finder could not complete the task due to error code -36.

I am using a MVP with 10.5.5. Didn’t know which would be faster, posting here or on dev’s support site so I am doing both

    7. Tommy Says:

The only apps I have problems moving into subdirectories are Apple’s own. (I think that counts as irony.)

I’m willing to shell out a tenner for a pretty way of dealing with that.

    8. Hansen Says:

Bought it – and just love the look and feel of this application. Right… it doesn’t do anything you can’t do in the finder! But – in my opinion – the dock is too limited. Too small. Way too small for 35-40 applications.

And yes – I have made alias of all my applications and moved the alias to subfolders (that’s the way to do it in order not to confuse the applications (!). It works…

But being able to see all my favorite applications nicely categorized – just does it for me. It’s a great application… I’ll give it a spin in a working environment the next couple of month – and hopefully it’ll not slow down my system (I have a thing with all the xtras you can put in your OS X :)

Anyway – this is the way the dock was meant to be!
