Something very strange happening with the site today! The page is literally all over the place. Have tried it in Safari, OmniWeb and Forefox. Same story in all.

  2. Melusine Says:

The server was down as well.

As to the software, does anyone have any personal experience with this? The reviews I’ve read are very favourable, so I’m very tempted.

  3. mcoad Says:

Me too, like Melusine. Shame the shambles on the page must be deterring folks commenting. It’s hard even to find the link!

  4. Martin Says:

It sounds good initially. It’d be great if the server could run standalone on a TimeCapsule but it doesn’t sound like it does. I’m going to have a play with it and see how it is.

On the plus side it says Jan 5th & 6th for the 5 pack so although it doesn’t specifically state it, it must be a 2 day ZOT this time?

  5. ZOT! Says:

We had some blog formatting issues this morn – We’re set now.

  6. ZOT! Says:

Yes – This is a two day ZOT!

SuperSync was hugely popular last time we had it here – Dec ’08.

I bought this last time it was a ZOT! It works as advertised. If they ever can get Sparkle integrated and perhaps look to update the mac version’s interface (it’s kinda PC-like, probably since it’s a cross-platform app), it would be truly awesome. As it is, it’s still a very solid app.

My only major complaint is that, last I checked, you could only access songs in mp3 format via the web server, which leaves my iTunes purchases inaccessible via this feature.

  8. mcoad Says:

Phew! Thanks for sorting out the formatting, Mike. Have to agree about SuperSync’s interface – yuk! Like something from System 7. But the app is deservedly popular and makes music library management much easier.

A question: how does it jive with multiple libraries created with something like PowerTunes? Presumably okay given the options allowed, but it would be good to hear from the devs or someone with experience.

    But am buying anyway…

  9. dB247365 Says:

Does it allow access to all file types, or just mp3?

  10. Brad Says:

A few responses from the developer…

SuperSync isn’t geared for synching multiple iTunes libraries on the same Mac with different user accounts (mostly due to file access issues..) However, if you have multiple iTunes libraries on your Mac, that should be fine, but you may need to point SuperSync to the correct iTunes XML library.. (Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t give developers a way to know for sure which library is active, so we spend about 3-4 seconds on startup checking..)

dB247365 asked about multiple file types–yes, pretty much everything that is supported by iTunes can be synched with iTunes (with a few exceptions, due to apple limits, are ringtones, apps, pdfs).

WalrusCP asked mentioned the web interface only works with MP3s.. He is correct–mostly because it is difficult to find a free, easy to use media player that supports more than just MP3. We are open to ideas but QuickTime isn’t ready for web based music playing (hint hint, Apple) And Macromedia Flash doesn’t support AAC. We’re open to ideas.

As far as the UI goes–yeah, it is not the prettiest app on the planet, but we do work on lots and lots of versions of OS X and Windows. We’re open to ideas to improve.
