Very awesome idea with the QuadraZOT. I will admit I’m such a MacZOT junkie that I have AppZapper (who doesn’t? ;), xPad and Data Guardian already, but I can definitely grab four apps out of this bunch.

As for other treats for the Tasty TwentyFive bundle, I’m anxious to hear more. I’ve yet to receive an email about it, but it is early here on the east coast on Monday morning and I can’t expect ZOT! t obe up before me, now can I?

Oh, and how exactly do we go about claiming our 4 products anyhow?

Excellent idea of zot … brilliant .. People love to choose and at least this time we can get away from AppZapper nicely :) without having say “no, no”

This is more like it, we can see what we’re buying. /This/ is how MacZot should be, not the mystery mumbo-jumbo.

I won a pzizz unit last year and love it - except for the darn guy talking in the middle of the music so i’m excited to try the software version (they told me the guy wasn’t able to stop talking on the hardware so the only option was the software version). The question i have is that their site says the software is $39 - yet the zot quoted price is $19 — the $19 price on the pzizz site is for the extra plugin only.

While I love the concept and excitement that comes with giving someone my money with the promise of SOMETHIGN in return (seriously, I really enjoy the MysteryZOTs), they were becoming a little to prevalent.

I think this “Build Your Own ZOT” is a great alternative to the MysteryZOT, and if I had $25 to spare I’d be buying it. Unfotunatley, I do not.

Just got a ZOTmail: “I forgot to let you know, that we’ll send out a URL at the end of today’s QuadraZOT.”

I think I am going to go for Mac Pilot, EarthDesk, pzizz Sleep (I got pzizz + Energizer last week on MU), and AppZapper. My list is subject to change if I realize I need one of the other apps more…

It’s very cool that we get something right away with the Tasty $25. The real test tho will be to see if anything else actually ever comes of it. We need to try to be patient tho, because it may be awhile before we get anything else! The least we can expect is to be told what is going on tho, since they explicitly say that.

I’m glad that I didn’t go for this one since I already have licenses of :

Xpad, AppZapper, Data Guardian and Pzizz. In fact I have several licenses of AppZapper and Pzizz. I can live without the others

  11. Klaus T said,

I already have licenses of: xPad and Data Guardian from MacZot. AppZapper I also have.

That leaves me with 6 programs, to choice 4 from. Honestly, none of them seems to do the trick for me. Pzizz could be fun, and I might wanna select that. EarthDesk could be fun too, but I doubt it will work with VirtueDesktop - but if it does, good!

Well, lets hope the Tasty Twentyfive gives us a bit more than a selection of programs from where some have already been at MacZot before.

    YEA!! AppZapper and xPad!

OK, this didn’t turn out as bad as I feared. Like somebody said though, too many MysteryZots, too often. (And the ad copy could use some work.)

There are probably four apps that I can find that will make this worthwhile. Even three will probably get my money’s worth.

    Here’s hoping for more selection!

Heh my bday is on the 21st Sept so Im wondering the same thing as you Stephan.

My birthday is tomorrow, whoohooo, bit too short :D

Justin, I am in the ZotGEIST aswell but no mail like yours, is it right that with that offer we as ZotGEISTs have the ability to check just 4 of the Quadra´s to downloaf for “free”?

  16. Thorsten von Plotho-Kettner said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 6:13 am

After the QuadraZOT is over, also we as ZotGEISTERs should get some link to have 4 apps of these for “free”, isn´nt it?

  17. Cobrabyte said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 6:42 am

Yes, we will probably receive the same link (at the end of the day) that the people who purchase this Zot will receive.

Personally, I’m looking forward to EarthDesk, Birthday Zot (although it sounds like this may be included with the ZotGeist already?), MacPilot and FileChute.

I would totally go for the Pzizz sleep module but I don’t want to have to kick out $34 to get the $19 module for free. That doesn’t make much sense, does it?

I wish they would have been less vague in the ‘Check out MDA on Wednesday’ … will there be a $10 off coupon or something? For those who are clueless (took me a couple seconds this morning), MDA is probably referring to MyDreamApp.com … but that’s in the air, too. It’s another one of those ‘Go on faith’ things. It’s almost like I need to choose now whether I use up one of my QuadraZot slots with that pzizz module and *hope* that there’s a deal at MDA on Wednesday. Otherwise, I’m out a slot and have a module that’s useless without purchasing something else for twice as much as the Zot’s worth.

That’s the only thing I’m missing the logic on … hope for some clarification on that one.

    All-in-all, I’m happy I got in on the $25 mystery … it’s going to edge-out alright. =)

  18. Cobrabyte said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 6:42 am

I’m very pleased so far, I’ve been wanting Pzizz sleep for a while, but I was really holding out for Yojimbo. I know this probably couldn’t work, but wouldn’t it be cool if there was a place were you trade licenses that you already own from Maczot? So if I have one too many AppZappers and you have an extra xPad we could trade. Looking forward to the Zotgeist.

  20. gryphonent said,

Is THIS the Tasty Twenty Five Mystery Zot I paid $25 for? I can select from xPad, FileChute, AppZapper, Pzizz Sleep module, and what not? All apps I purchased previously on MacZot and in fact have multiple licenses for some of them already? It seems those stale AppZapper and xPad jokes have come back to haunt us. If there’s indeed nothing else in the Tasty Twenty Five Package, then this is worse than a stale sandwich. MacZOT, I’m truly and deeply disappointed! This was it! Never EVER another MysteryZot for me. After all the comments posted during the last one it seems you’re laughing your way to the bank yet again.

So not only did I have to wait 3 days to even find out what the Tasty Twenty Five Mystery Zot was, but now I have to wait another day to even get anything from it? real nice. plus, I can barely find 2 apps I would ever even consider trying as Freeware from this list, and I’m being generous.

    I’m very unimpressed right now.

can anyone tell me…is iChat a carbon or cocoa app? or is invisiray useless to me for that purpose?

I’m the last person to attack MacZot…and I’m not even going to do it now because I still have a big place in my heart for them…but I feel like I’m between a rock and a hard place.

I own AppZapper, Xpad, Pzizz…I’ve tried MacPilot and don’t see much use for it, nor for Data Guardian, or Mail Template. Earthdeask would be cool if I didn’t think it would interfere with Deskshade (a program I love!).

So what Zot? I’m left with FileChute, Invisaray, Birthday Zot, and a Widget Bundle of things I already have (to do list?! picture frame!?!) I really hope my $25 goes to something better than this.

I’m a cliche’ poor college student, who held out on this “tasy twentyfive” until literally 2:59am EST. I just want to feel like I made a somewhat decent impulse decision…so far it seems I’m wrong.

Never used the sleep plug-in though - not sure how its different. And, since this is only my second ZOT, I only have AppZapper. Can’t wait to find out more about ZOTGEIST!!! Regarding Birthday ZOTs

Brian Ball only registered the MacZOT url for one year. The url expires on January 7, 2007. He didn’t take advantage of a multi-year discount. Maybe he doesn’t like discounts. ;-) Perhaps ZOT is not a long term business plan?

The url expires the day before MacWorld San Francisco starts, don’t count on being able to greet Brian personaly in the MacZOT booth. ;-)

i love the apps, I can finally get AppZapper, the BirthdayZOT is nice, because I’d like an extra surprise on my birthday (gonna forget it till then) and Data Guardian is imo a good addition to my xPad/KIT couple because neither offer encryption and I’d like to safe my passwords/serials somwhere safe (I kinda don’t like keychain, feels too open). So for the 4th one, I don’t know yet, EarthDesk is probably going to be a pain on dial-up and pzizz costs extra and sounds somewhat esoteric (is that an english word ?). But still I love the ZOT, don’t regret it.
I just hope you at least check the old MacZOT orders before giving the BirthedayZOT, so we don’t get somethign we already have, that’d be nice.

Pzizz is an excellent piece of software though. It replaces a really cool hardware unit. Plus it’s a great podcast. :)

I’m somewhat tempted to get AppZapper, but with all the ‘extra’ copies floating out there, I’d rather see if anyone here has one they’d be willing to part with for a reasonable price (or free). Anyone?

Some of you said you’ve gotten an e-mail, anyone want to go into more detail on what it said? It really seems like I should have gotten something in my e-mail by now!

zottom - you aren’t the only one. I downloaded it, though, and am waiting for an answer as to why I can’t see the first couple of characters on the left side of each line. Must be doing something wrong. Seems like a good app otherwise and I’ll likely go for this deal if I can fix that one issue.

Now I’m torn on Pzizz, I’d have to do much more research on if this is even viable technology/science but I’ll probably go with others and take the hit at full price later if I find that it is effective.

Pzizz requires additional software at a cost so and I don’t use .Mac or Dashboard.

Can anyone tell me what the difference between Onyx and Mac Pilot is?

So I guess it will be Birthday, Earthdesk, Data Guardian, and I can’t decide on the last one.

It will all just depend on how good this ZOTGeist club is. We’ve seen ZOT fail to deliver in the past, at least a couple times, so I am most certainly suspicious and hesitant about it. I will enjoy the Earth thing, but that’s all I have a use for here (other than what I already have, which I also have no use for). Oh well. I’m not complaining though, really. We’ll see how good ZOTGeist is. If it weren’t for being invested in that now though, I’d probably be done with ZOT altogether. Now I feel like I kinda HAVE to participate in whatever that is, since I’ve spend my $!

I can totally see the birthdayZOT being a part of the ZOTGeist for everyone tho. One of the perks of it. So, if you choose it here, you may get two birthdayZOTs! Wouldn’t that just be totally typical of this site tho?!

For the pzizz curious: The $39.95 app is the pzizz APP, and the Energizer PLUG-IN. It’s apparently been sold/given before, at a discount. I got it for $25 elsewhere.

The $19 Sleep Plug-in is an *additional* PLUG-IN for the APP. The Sleep Plug-In does not have the telling you to wake up, nor the three beeps at the end. It lets you get your beauty sleep.

I’m happy for those who don’t already have this or any (or many) of the other apps. There are five or six I want (no more AZ or xP for me, though) so I came out unscathed. This time.

    And what is MDA?

    SoftwareJunkie,

I believe MDA is My Dream App contest currently underway at http://www.mydreamapp.com. Check it out. I am far too interested in its outcome. Various mac developers are sponsors of the contest and sometimes, I see links for $x off by following the link on MDA. SO it appears that Pzizz will probably sponsor a day and provide discounts to their base pzizz software on Sept 20th.

    Wynlyndd:
You don’t need .mac for FileChute, ftp works as well.

    Frank:
Thanks for the answer. I see your point, and agree they should warn of duplicates. In the 1cent-ZOT, they said none and it was correct.
OTOH, it is probably impossible to sign contracts with so many developers you would need to never offer duplicates. Especially if the price point is mostly very similar and you don’t want to offer trash.
I, too, vote for an App-Zapper-taboo, though. :)

Cobrabyte: Thanks, I’ve tried EarthDesk it out and it does work with DeskShade…whether or not I would have spent money on it seperately is another story…

Can anyone give more concrete information on this website/forum where license trading occurs? Because it seems I’m going to have about 3 extra licenses I’d like to trade sometime soon.

    Thanks!

Ps. The one application I was excited to to try out (Invisaray) is the exact same thing as Afloat http://millenomi.altervista.org/Afloat/ (which I already have)

But to try and be POSITIVE for a moment…I’d like to recommend to anyone who does NOT have these programs to scoop up AppZapper, XPad, and Mac Pilot as I use them regularly, and they’re excellent programs.

ZOT - I too am wondering can I get more than one of the same app with my Tasty $25? Say I only need/want 2 of these apps, can I get 2 each, or 3 of 1? Also, will the gifting option be available like it was for xPad (on one of the recent mysteries) were we could actually register the app as a gift for someone, or are we talking giving them my email and serial would be the gifting. Just curious, the night is closing in and I’m ready to select my apps! :)

Anyone have any luck getting EarthDesk to work smoothly with VirtueDesktops? EarthDesk doesn’t seem to appreciate switching among eight virtual desktops and disppears upon every switch until a next update interval.

  66. yngvede said,

Please help me out here! I purchased the Mystery Zot and I got an email today which basically said, that the Quadra-Zot was part of my purchase. So far so good. But how do I choose the apps that I want? If anybody has found out about it please tell me.

  67. Ric said,

Virtual Desktops has a lot of known problems with desktops. I can’t even get it to work reliably with simple jpgs. While EarthDesk may play a part, I wouldn’t start looking for the problem there.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments about pzizz - I’m glad you’re enjoying it!

For those sitting “on the fence” when it comes to the pzizz sleep module - rest assured that you won’t be disappointed if you decide to go ahead with the QuadraZOT - the additional “cost” of the pzizz software and energizer via MyDreamApp won’t disappoint you…

If it does, I’ll give you a license for free! ;-)

    Happy pzizzing, everyone…

    All the best

Zot, please explain the BirthdayZOT a little further. I am interested in selecting this, but I need to know what happens since my birthday will fall on a Sunday this year?? And, as mentioned earlier, I don’t ever remember entering my birthday when signing up for ZOT… please expand on how the BirthdayZOT will work!

    Thorsten,

Yes, part of this weekend’s “Tasty TwentyFive ZOT” (or the ZOTgeist) is today’s QuadraZOT. You will get to pick four of the apps listed above.

  73. Peter said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 7:08 pm

Looks like the fact that Edward from pzizz actually commenting and my lack of response about my problem with xPad via their web site and following up here in case they missed it due to the time crunch (confirming the comments made by folks here and elsewhere labeling it abandonware) has pushed me to remove xPad and add pzizz instead.

Hope that 20th offer is good! Not to get into too much detail but I could definitely use some stress relief in my life ATM.

  74. Chris said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 7:34 pm

Peter: xPad is owned by MacZot.

  75. Mick Mueck said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 7:43 pm

Well, nothing at all here of interest to me for my $25 :-(. Is there any chance that for those of us who already have everything we want from the list that we can just apply the $25 towards a generous birthday present when the day comes? (please). Others have already asked about buying multiple items instead of 4 different ones yet the Zot-meister hasn’t responded. 4 birthday presents looks like what I may want…

Also, Erichd spoke of being able to trade extra licenses at:

    http://www.mac-headz.com

but I can’t get that site to come up. Is the url correct?

  76. Peter said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 8:13 pm

Chris - that is fully understood and my comments were made with that in mind. No response by the owner to a person who would have used that information to make a “purchase” decision (albeit at their discounted price) to a simple support question wasn’t acceptable to me. They had the inside track and didn’t come through.

An outside developer came in to comment on their software and I was impressed. There was opportunity (apparently taken) for MacZot to clean these threads but not to answer the question about the software they own.

That was my point. Also, most small software developers would have at least attempted to answer the question in a short period of time.

  77. Erichd said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 8:16 pm

It is odd that Zot doesn’t comment, since they now own xPad (and AppZapper -1/2 at least).

It ttok awhile, and apparently there were extreme extenuating cricumstances, but Zot did finally follow-up on ColaboZot, so i’d not worry too muc about the BirthdayZot! I, though, already own Pzziz (in my very first Zot, I believe), and it’s AWESOME! I blogged about it for the first five posts in my blog, as Zot said somethign about a contest by Pzizz for aiPod based on blogging about it — Edward, what happened with that?

Oh, xPad and AppZapper - multiple licenses. Apparently, it used to work on 10.3.9, but not the download I “gifted” to my folks. I bough thte last widget pack Zot featured, so no need for more note widgets…..though I want the other offered by Monkey business!

The Clincher for me: Will Data Guardian have a reader or other mode of compatibility with my Palm Treo? someone say definitely YES and Zot gets the $25. I kinda hope not, since I didn’t jump on the mystery….. :(

oh and iTRADE (with dev approval): go to http://www.mac-headz.com - a site that arose for the specific problem of forming teams for that collaboZot, since Zot required teams but didn’t offer a forum or a team-building mechanism on its own. Much bigger than that, though, and very, very friendly. Appears to be down at the moment, so mark that site for a visit later on.

  78. Chris said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 8:25 pm

Peter - I wasn’t disagreeing with you. I totally agree with you. It IS unacceptable. I just wasn’t sure if you knew that xPad IS MacZot. My point was that it isn’t surprising that you got no response from the xPad folk since they are the same people (or related to) the Zot people who don’t have the best track record ofcommunicating.

  79. Cameron said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 8:34 pm

So, with mac-headz.com being down, anyone want to explain to me how trading Zotted apps works? I’d love to be able to buy an Appzapper license off of someone so I could get a different app instead today.

    September 18, 2006 @ 8:42 pm

Thanks for quick answer, Justin :)

Who, the birthday-Zot is over for me before it starts, cause today is my bday :)

  81. Peter said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 8:49 pm

Chris - gotcha. We’re on the same page then. I did get in but have some time to choose but xPad is definitely off the list since it seems they also have a habit of repeating so if I do want it I’ll just get it in one of the future Zots it is surely to show up on. And thanks for the clarification.

  82. evariste said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 10:08 pm

How do I notify Zot of the apps I want so I can get licenses? I suppose we’ll find out tomorrow.

I don’t get the Pzizz thing. So I’m basically choosing a “module”, but I still have to pay for the program that makes it work? Like getting a free gallon of gas, but it only works in a Ferrari I have to buy separately? Clear this up for me cuz I’m clueless.

  83. SoftwareJunkie said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 11:01 pm

Actually, it’s like getting a gallon of gas for the car that you won last month in a raffle, or that you bought at a discount.

The Sleep plug-in is $19 and very desirable for those who already purchased the pzizz App and Energizer plug-in.

Now, you could get this Sleep module as one of the four apps (at a huge discount) and then pick up the App and Energizer bundle on the 20th, as mentioned before.

You would probably have about $59 worth of app for a lot less. This is a cool app. I put the generated Naps on my iPod, and I can power nap very easily.

  84. evariste said,

I’m sorry that you weren’t picked up during the iPod blog contest but I didn’t receive an email from you telling me you were taking part - and I didn’t find your enries when looking online… Even now, I can’t seem to find them on your blog?

Anyway, the competition was jointly won by:

    Shawn McCullough

    and

Again, sorry that your entry wasn’t noted!

Is there a verb for a bad zot? Like in I’ve been z(g)otted :) I’m also getting the architecture message when I try to open xPad. The information page for xPad, however, says the program is a universal binary. My PB has 10.4, the only other system requirement, so this might be my first and only zot.

I forgot to let you know, that we’ll send out a URL at the end of today’s QuadraZOT.

You’ll see the ZOTGEIST page where you can choose the apps you want. We expect you’ll take your time today and choose which bundle will best suit you.

I think it is a good Zot. Mac Pilot and MailTemplate are cool. I guess MailTemplate might be obsolete come Leopard. xPad won’t launch. I’m not sure how I can use Pzizz being that I don’t have an ipod/airport express and my Mac is far from my bed. Earthdesk is cool, but I like a more simple plain desktop. Having a cluttered or elaborate desktop makes me feel wet, dirty, and cold. I think I’m gona go for Birthday Zot! My mommy says I’m to old for her to buy me a gift. Maczot… will you be my mommy?

    ————–

I see the sponsor link for Pzizz on MDA, but there seems to be no advantage at check out for having clicked through MDA. Has anyone else found this to be otherwise? I suppose my next place to look is neatlittlemacapps.com.

Just an FYI - MacZOT says to check the URL for the codes (QuadraZOT and ZotGEIST) but I just received my codes for MacPilot and DataGuardian in my email (MacZOT still says waiting for developer response). My only confusion is the Birthday Zot. When (and How) are you going to get our birthdays? Mine is obvious, since my birthdate is in my email, but others could be harder.

  94. MK said,

Edward from Pzizz, in addition to QuadraZot’s description, mentioned that there is supposed to be a deal for the Pzizz app and the Energizer module today on MyDreamApp. There is a sponsor banner up on the MDA site, but it simply points to the main Pzizz site. Deal? Or no deal?

Edward, thanks so much for offering your software to us for free … you rock!

PS. If you want a license of MonkeyWidgets or EarthDesk, I’ll trade you for the sleep module! =D

    Edward,

Let me echo Corabyte’s comments. Thank you so much for the offer you made to MDA. I received the serial number immediately and look forward to using the program. Perhaps you should speak to the folks at MacZOT. Many of use have been waiting four days for a serial number for the sleep module to use with pzizz.

    Thanks again!

  102. Perroboy said,

    September 25, 2006 @ 7:40 pm

I feel a bit boned about having to purchase the pzizz app in order to make use of the sleep module. you really SHOULD HAVE made that clear in the QuadraZot description.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to check back here every few days so that I might have picked up the discounted pzizz app, as I hear good things about it.

Maybe that’s the kind of thing that you could send out to us ‘privileged’ Zotgeisters, or are we expected to read through the blog posts daily?

  103. John said,

    September 26, 2006 @ 10:48 pm

I completely agree with Perroboy since I too missed the MDA voting not realizing it was ‘required’

This is crazy. We spend $25 to become ‘exclusive’… I too didn’t bother to check back here thinking “it will come” since you SPECIFICALLY said “Give us time” and now my patience in waiting for Serials is costing me.

I was shocked when I got the e-mail today saying “Oh, I hope you didn’t miss getting the rest of the pieces you needed for free… It was a few days ago”

I feel like I’m paying for your lack of being on the ball — An email to everyone who took the Pzizz seems like a reasonable thing. If you were giving the thing away for free a few days ago why can you offer it up to people who actually help pay for it?

  104. Raytube said,
