ZOT Interview with Bruno Di Gleria, creator of Qmidi

1 What’s the most unique, useful feature of your product?

I think that the real time pitch shift and time stretching on either MIDI, Audio and Video media can be considered an unique and useful feature.

2 Why did you create this app? or What need were you trying to satisfy?

When I first created QMidi version 1.0 (a long time ago…) there was nothing similar to listen to a bunch of MIDI files sequencially, you needed to open them one at the time. Not to mention the absolute lack of Karaoke players on the Mac.

3 What is most interesting to you about developing SW for the Mac and/or iOS platforms.

I’m developing for the Mac since 1996… At that time, the Mac was much better that anything else on the PC market. Now, the Mac is much better that anything else on the PC market ;-)

4 What features should a prospective buyer look into during a trial of your product?

The trial version has no limitations at all, so test anything thoroughly. Take your time.

5 What are some interesting experiences you’ve had creating new versions of your software when OS is upgraded?

The Cocoa Framework + Objective C introduced with Mac OS X has been a revelation!

6 What’s your favorite Mac app out there from another developer? Why?

There is a lot of excellent stuff out there… One software that I can’t miss is 1Password from AgileBits.

7 What’s your upgrade policy?

Free upgrades for minor upgrades. This means no upgrade fee required till version 3.0!
