What’s the most unique, useful feature of your product?

We put a lot of effort into the design so that Geotagalog would be straightforward to use. Even if you don’t remember whether the breadcrumb history tracklog recorder you have is called a “GPS” or a “GSP”, we want you to be able to automatically geotag your photos with as little fuss as possible.

Why did you create this app? What need were you trying to satisfy?

I love to drive around the country on a beautiful afternoon just photographing all the interesting things or inspiring scenery I find. As a result, I have many thousands of digital pictures with hundreds of tracklogs. but I’d never matched them up because of all the extra work it would have taken. I began writing an entire photo manager built around a special map with completely visual drag-and-drop geotagging. When Apple announced Places in iPhoto, I decided to focus on just the automatic geotagging and work to make that the best it can be.

What features would you like to add to your product that seem impossible?

Right now Geotagalog only supports geotagging photos as you import them into iPhoto. It would be very useful to me and many others if it could geotag photos that are already in iPhoto. To really get that right has turned out to be difficult to do, especially since we are committed to doing it without shortcuts that could corrupt your photo library. So it’s taking a lot longer to finish than I’d planned, but I’m determined to get it working well because of the benefits it will bring to users’ workflows.
