| XMind Pro 3, combined with our online sharing service, provides a revolutionary way to enable both team brainstorming and personal mind mapping. With this major upgrade, we bring Web 2.0 concepts on community sharing into a popular desktop application. New Gantt view allows project managers to easily track project tasks and schedules. You’ll find many more useful and time-saving functions in XMind Pro 3.
Inline Presentation Are you a teacher looking to present your lesson plans? Are you a business owner who wants to get the word out about your product or service? Are you a speaker who wants your information to reach people who could not make it to your seminar? XMind Pro makes it easier to express your ideas and share your information using its Presentation function. Launch XMind Pro, where you can draw a mind map or open existed maps. One click enters you into Presentation mode, where your map will be shown on the full screen. You can use the navigation toolbar within Presentation mode or Spacebar, Enter, Tab, or Arrow keys to navigate through topics. Every time a new topic is selected, it will be highlighted and positioned in the center of screen so your audience can concentrate on it. This brand new presentation format combines single-point focus and a holistic conceptual grasp that is fully customizable and interactive. Now you can throw away traditional linear slide-shows that limits the imagination and creativity, and makes meetings less participatory. Gantt View With Gantt View in XMind Pro, you can easily manage and adjust your project tasks in a single view. In this view, all tasks are ordered by the priority, from high to low. Drag and move the task bars to change their start and end dates. Information for a particular task that is changed in the Gantt View is synchronously reflected in the TaskInfo view. The Gantt view’s design provides flexibility and convenience for project managers and other users trying to organize a project plan. Privately Share Your maps are your property. This is exactly why XMind Pro offers the option for you to privately share your mind maps with the people you choose. When uploading a map, choose to make the map private and it will not be seen by anyone unless they specifically receive an invitation from you. Private sharing makes a lot of sense for project teams who want to share and collaborate on a brainstorming session or task information captured in a mind map without broadcasting plans to the public. Getting Things Done Getting Things Done (GTD) is a groundbreaking work-life management system. It transforms personal stress and overload into an integrated system of productivity. XMind Pro was designed to enhance your work productivity, with flexible structures and powerful features to trace and manage tasks. Getting ideas out of your head and into a tool that helps you organize your thoughts and take action on them is a focus of GTD, and XMind Pro is an excellent choice for implementing your GTD strategy. I’m not a huge fan of storing my data online like this. For great mind-mapping software, I’d love to see the Mac version of The Brain zotted (thebrain.com)

I use Xmind Pro 08 because it’s a wonderful app. It is about as bullet proof as you can get. If you could still buy it, I’d recommend it strongly.
I will not use this version, not even the free one because of the subscription. Xmind 08 works great and I see no need to give my hard earned money away to be able to rent the app. I don’t rent my music and won’t rent my software. A lot of the feature of the rental version are important so I refuse to go down the rental path.
When XMind Pro 08 finally breaks, I will change to another similar product where I buy the complete version without rental fees. I may spend more, but it’s mine.

Since you only license rather than own any software, I’m not as worried as Mark about Xmind’s new model. I, too, owned a license to Xmind 8 and enjoyed it. I now use the free model of Xmind just because I didn’t need the online model. But it’s useful and this is a good price.
Unlike FreeMind, Xmind looks Mac and produces (IMO) better looking images. Never underestimate “pretty” in conveying information.
Comparable software is US$300 making this a great bargain even at full price.

I feel similar to Mark. I will not spend another dime on XMind, although I was happy with the 2008 Pro version.
@Forrest,
“Comparable” software is not $300. Even MindView 3 Mac which is quite expensive sells for $229. The absurdly priced NovaMind 5 Platinum is $249. MindManager 7 is $129. They have the good sense of offering Mindjet Connect as a separate product. ConceptDraw MindMap Pro 5 was offered for free. Pretty good deal!
The only one I’ve seen that approaches $300 is iMindMap Ultimate at $295. I guess people pay a premium to use Tony Buzan’s official software, yet even this one was offered recently for $178.
I do like XMind, but some of these products are superior. I passed when XMind Pro was offered for $50 (3 years) and I’m passing now. Chances are that I’ll eventually upgrade ConceptDraw MindMap Pro. If MindManager for the Mac gets updated I may also consider it. It’s a shame, since I did like XMind originally and thought it had a lot of potential.

Forrest you are correct about the licensing concept. The difference is that I never lose what I pay for. It may no longer be supported but I can still use it. I lose all the benefits of the pro version as soon as my rental is over. I subscribe to magazines and get to keep the content I received during the subscription. Not the same with software.

As an educator, I’ve used Inspiration extensively for many years. I tried this, but I really don’t see anything I can’t do in Inspiration … and I don’t have to renew every year.

If the software quality is anything near the poor sound on the demo video then people should be payed to use XMind!
For Christs sake get a real mic.

Contacted developer to ask about the upgrade path and cost for Xmind Pro 2008 to Xmind 3 early this morning. No response all day. Makes it hard to compare MacZot price versus upgrade price.
