Keyword Manager –

Keyword Manager introduces a brand new way of assigning keywords to your photos in a simple and efficient way. Keyword Manager expands the functionality of your familiar iPhoto setup, and will greatly enhance your photo management experience. For example, you can have the keyword Paris as a subkeyword to France. Every time you assign Paris to a photo, France will also be assigned to that photo. AppleScript based solutions become excruciatingly slow when assigning and removing keywords from a large amount of photos. Keyword Manager taps directly into iPhoto’s own keywording system, for optimal performance. Smart auto-completion helps you increase the rate at which you keyword your photos. Non-obtrusive auto-correction suggestions helps you avoid creating similar duplicate keywords. With Keyword Manager you can still assign keywords to your photos, even when viewing them in full-screen mode. |

I strongly recommend this add-on! Purchased it last year and cannot imagine iPhoto without it.

This looks quite nice. Have d/l and given it a quick trial. Seems to be a handy add-on to iPhoto. The current version also works fine with Leopard and iPhoto ’08. Not sure if I’ll use it though as I’m planning to move to Lightroom. Might be useful for my young son & significant other though…
Any other recommendations that are similar?

Already own this and can recommend it heartily! Very useful if you have more than a handful of keywords!

BTW any chance of 50% off the family license? :)

I haven’t used this newer version, but the older version was a godsend for iPhoto! I may just have to take the plunge and buy this.

Already have it as well(I think it was through Maczot) and highly recommend it. It’s one of the most valuable pieces of software I’ve purchased for my mac.

Okay, that is about enough! I’ve already zotted thrice this past week. And this’ll probably be a fourth. Do y’all know how much trouble I get into when the credit card bill comes in and there’s all these little PayPal charges?
Can we have some crappy little games instead? Something, anything, that I *don’t* want. Just stop making me zot every day!
Honestly.

This is a real time saver if you use iPhoto. Much better than the built in keywording feature.

I’m in on this one. I just tagged my iPhoto Library with this and I think Keyword Manager is great! Thanks for making me aware of it – I can now tag and find all my pics the easy way! Believe me, folks, this plugin is far superior to the Keyword feature built into iPhoto. Try it out and see.

Wow! That’s really slick. So easy, I hit the demo limit way sooner than I expected. :)

Yup, I second (or third or whatever) the prevailing comments here… great app, really helps me get my iphoto libraries in shape. Absolutely essential.

Another vote for this great app!
And here’s an opportunity for the dev to “upsell” a bunch of users that already have the single user license… a (small) discount to the family license, and I’d be all over it!

Looks like a cool program that would be helpful in tagging my thousands of photos, but I can’t get it to load on my G5 running 10.5.2 and iPhoto ’08. It works great on my MacBook Pro laptop, but I do most of my photo organizing on my desktop machine. Judging from their recent updates, they seem to have issues with the installer and unfortunately, the documentation and developer’s website don’t seem to offer much in the way of support.

I, too, had trouble getting it to load, but went to FAQ at developer’s site and found a simple fix. LOVE IT!

As so many have already said, Keyword Manager rocks! I too bought it last year here and can’t imagine using iPhoto without it.

The fix on the FAQ didn’t work for me, so I’ll hope they bring it back when it works on my configuration!

Wow, this is great! I just recently started tagging my photos. I have thousands, so it’s a huge job. I was skeptical about Keyword Manager at first, because I didn’t think iPhoto 7′s keyword support was bad. Decided to go ahead and try it because of all the raves here. Less than one minute into the trial I was sold, and immediately purchased it here.
I’ve been a Mac user for over 20 years, but the last couple of years have been amazing in terms of the software created by small independent developers. It’s programs like this that, although small, add a level of finesse that makes the Mac so much fun to use. Thanks to you, and thanks to macZOT for bringing these great programs to our attention!
(Although Tommy is right–it’s scary how these small purchases can add up to serious money!)

@Jerry, I agree completely. I’ve spent more on Mac software in the past 12 months (since I switched from Winslow) than I spent in the previous 20 years on software. The quality and range and support from the community is brilliant. How I wished I’d converted over years ago!
Curses on macZOT and Mupromo etc…
Oh and yeah, I zotted this as well. Loved it. :)

@Susan,
Just a thought, though I hesitate posting troubleshooting ideas here…
You might do a Spotlight search to see if you have multiple copies of “SIMBL” in your Libraries. If you have anything older than version 0.8.2, replace it/them with the new version and try again. (SIMBL might exist in /Library/Input Managers, Library/Application Support/Input Managers, at the top level and/or at the User level on your drive.) Afterwards, repair permissions and try Keyword Manager again on the problematic Mac.

Oooo! Not I’m not so happy. Setting lots of keywords makes iPhoto refuse to shut down. And, after you kill it, all the new assignments are gone.
Then my MacBook locked up to the point that I had to hard-boot it, something that’s happened only one in the last year and a half.
Not good. Could maybe be due to the recent Java update. Maybe not.
