This is a pretty nice app. Unfortunately, I already have it. The actual word processing features are similar to Text Edit (its native file formats are TXT and RTF) It does just what it says; it takes everything off the screen (including the Dock and Finder menubar) so you can focus on writing. (The screenshots aren’t exactly truthful as it does not have a shiny look to it. It would be cool though!) One great feature that isn’t mentioned is that it can open and export .doc files. WriteRoom is a great way to just get the writing part done and then you can open your work in a full word processor if you need to modify or add any formatting. I highly recommend it for students or anyone who writes a lot. The developer is also great at responding to questions and bugs on his forum.
There are two small additions I would like to see in a future version. It’d be great to be able to select your page size and view how many pages you have. Currently you can only choose the amount of pixels wide and tall you want your workspace page to be. It has a very handy word counter that hides when you take your mouse off it. I’d just like to see the same thing with pages. I’m a student and my assignments obviously have page requirements. It’d just be helpful to keep tabs on it from time to time as I write.

Thank you!

This is one of the most simple an zen apps out there. If you write anything and find yourself wandering, this is worth every penny.

This is definitely a great application. I highly recommend it. I remember when I first read the glowing reviews of it, I thought “big woop”. Then I used it. For writing, it’s like sinking yourself into a big pile of pillows with a good book: it’s home.
Don’t believe me. Download it and give it a whirl for anything you want to write. Don’t let this deal get away.

This is one of those many apps that macZot frequently offers for which I have absolutely no use.
I do little to no writing. I don’t blog, don’t ask me.
Zot’ed.
This app is just so cool that I can’t help myself.
